Details: US Army, M2 Cletrac high-speed aircraft towing tractor. These aircraft tugs were used during the Second World War and were affectionately known as ‘Bomber Nurses’. Although the Cletrac had been partially dismantled, to facilitate its transport, it was complete. The data plate showed that it had been manufactured in August 1943 and that it had a top speed of 22mph (40kph). Despite a little rust and some minor weathering, there were areas where the US Army green paint still remained, plus a serial number on a guard which confirmed its former use. I subsequently did a bit of research and found a couple of images of Cletracs taken during the war. Here are some colour photos I took
